Got Jesus?
Do you know Jesus? Most people have heard the name but to truly know someone requires having a relationship with them. So how do we have a relationship with Jesus when we can’t see Him? Before I answer this let me ask another question. Do you communicate with people via text? The truth is most of us do and it’s often with people we’ve never met in person. It’s similar to how we build a relationship with Jesus! God had men pen down His message to us and it’s all recorded in the Bible (referenced in the Bible – 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”). Then our message to Him is done through prayer.
What is a Christian?
The definition of a Christian is – one that professes and believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He came to earth, died, and came back to life to save us from our sins (sins are things that God tells us not to do).
What is “salvation?”
It is the forgiveness of sin obtained through the belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ.
Why must I be “saved?”
The Bible tells us that all have sinned (For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God – Romans 3:23). These sins separate us from God. Without forgiveness, we cannot spend eternity with Him in heaven, but God loves you so much that He sent His son Jesus Christ to pay the price for your sins (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16). Jesus did this by living a perfect life, dying on the cross, and then coming back to life after three days. Without salvation, we are doomed to spend eternity in hell. However, heaven is a place of complete peace and love.
What must I do to be saved?
The Bible tells us in Romans chapter 10 verses 9 & 10 – “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
First, you must believe and then confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Sounds too simple doesn’t it? But God made it that way because He loves us so much. It is God’s gift to you.
Believe and call out to Jesus in prayer today. He is waiting to hear from you. It is something you will never regret.
What now?
I would encourage you to spend time reading the Bible and praying daily. Also, find a local church to attend where the preaching/teaching is based on the Bible. Ask God to lead you to a church where you can learn and serve Him.
